Rob's birthday weekend

Rob has been accustom his whole life to his birthday being blown way out of proportion--in a good way. The whole McKenzie clan comes into Butler to celebrate for the weekend. This year it was postponed secondary to Huntsville children being sick. So, his celebration turned into a week-long ordeal...needless to say, he did not have a problem with this. He also has my side of the family now to spoil him rotten as well. They love him to pieces.

So, the Butler weekend did and will always consist of crafts, sewing and cooking. I learned how to knit this weekend and did two hats for Tabory and Mary McKenzie.

I wish I had taken a picture of the table. It consisted of three sewing machines and the girls coloring Easter eggs--can't be prepared too soon Suzi. My main project this weekend was to finish the blocks on a quilt that I am currently working on. These are a preview of a few of them..

Other BIG NEWS, Boots III, our nephew, killed his first deer. Not just any deer, an 8-point!! He was elated to say the least. I am not sure honestly who was more excited--Boots III, Boots Jr. (dad), or Rob. Rob was still giddy when he went to bed.

We finished the weekend with lunch at the fish camp--always a favorite of the McKenzies! It was a great weekend spent with great friends and family. Happy birthday love of my life!

St. Petersburg, FL

Recently, Rob had a conference in St. Petersburg, FL. I decided I would tag along and relax and most importantly visit with Jen. We went down a day early and spent a night and a couple days with Jen and Josh. Saturday night we went to an awesome restaurant that had anything from burgers to sushi to CORNDOG BITES- phi mu house reminiscing for me and Jen there.

After dinner we went we went to Chanelside for drinks and to see the festivities.

Sunday, we all we to the Aquarium. It was a great one with a Florida wetland section that Rob especially loved. (Rob and I go to as many zoos and aquariums that we can, we love them)
*please pardon the lack of make-up

Rob was pretty busy all day with his conference, so my days were consumed with the following:
  • sleeping in..
  • morning t.v. (Good Morning America, Today show, Regis and Kelly, Love it!)
  • lunch with Rob
  • reading hundreds of blogs- one of my favorite things to do
  • massage- Rob got one with me
  • got my hair done
  • walking around St. Pete
  • And, whatever else I chose to do
This was a great trip for us to take and perfect timing for a break from the real world, at least for me :).

Meet the McKenzies

Rob and I met in August of 2007. We were set up by a close friend of mine who is also Rob's cousin (April Davidson). This happened 2 weeks before I was set to move to Nashville to begin occupational therapy school. We dated long distance....fast forward 2 1/2 years and we got married this past May. We live in Meridian and have two dogs that we adore, Molly, the Springer spaniel and Copper, the Brittany spaniel.

I am an occupational therapist and Rob is an environmental consultant with a company based out of Louisiana.

That's all about us for now...this blog stuff is taking me a while to get the hang of so we will see how this turns out..:)
